When the protagonist starts his sentence in Hoosegow, he will start his activities while getting to know his cellmate. The activities are indicated by the slips you receive. Depending on your choices in the game, the actions have different events that you can easily read. Of course, you don't want to encounter a sigil as it often heralds a momentous event affecting you. For example, if you fall you will need to be hospitalized, you will see a stamp that says "send to hospital" or the worst thing you can achieve is death.
